Anyone who is involved with high school baseball and hasn’t heard of the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) standard has a bit of cramming to do. That’s because as of the 2012 season, all high school baseball players must use BBCOR approved bats in game play. And while it seem like a bit of burden for coaches and equipment managers, this is one change that could actually save some lives.
Since their introduction in the 1970’s, aluminum bats have always courted controversy in the baseball world. When they first hit the market, baseball purists immediately cried foul, claiming that the new bats gave some hitters an advantage over players with wooden bats. But there was something a little more sinister going on.
Aluminum, and composite, bats actually flexed a bit when connecting with the ball. This created a sort of “trampoline effect” that greatly increased ball speed, and injuries caused by speeding balls. Statisticians have also noticed a pronounced increase in the number of home runs hit during that era, too.
Switching high school baseball bats to BBCOR approved standards should have a huge impact on overall ball speed. This may mean fewer home runs, but it will also mean fewer deaths and injuries.
Sales management is defined as a discipline within the business world that focuses on practical applications of various sales techniques and sales operation management. It is regarded as an important business function in the generation of net sales from the sale of various products and services that eventually results to profit. Such factors are also known as the performance indicators.
Sales management responsibilities fall directly to the sales manager, who is typically involved in the sales planning activities of business entities. With respect to sales planning activities, the sales manager takes the helm in the conceptualization and development of sales strategies, the setting of profit-based sales targets, sales forecasting, quotas, demand management and most especially, the writing and executing of an agreed sales plan.
The sales plan is a vital component in management. It is a strategic document outlining the agreed sales activities, business targets and the resources needed for the project. A good sales plan must fall in line with the expectations and objectives of the grand marketing plan, business plan and the strategic plan. It must carry more specific details on how various company objectives will be achieved through actual sale of the business products and services.
Sales staff recruitment in every business is centered on three aspects, namely: job description, job analysis and the qualifications on the job. Job analysis highlights certain tasks that every hired salesperson will be responsible for on day-to-day operations. It must identify vital and priority activities that help improve sales performance. Anyone within the sales or even the human resources department must be fully capable of performing the analysis. He or she must be directly responsible for completing the job analysis, and must have an in-depth understanding of the operations in the sales department.
Job description is an important factor that must be considered in the recruitment of personnel tasked to handle the sales operations of business entities. It identifies workload sizes that define productivity and efficiency and compares it with the compensation plan and specific roles and duties of sales personnel. Job qualifications on the other hand are carefully considered since it influences the company’s competitive advantage and performance in its niche and market.
Just about everybody has a PDA (personal digital assistant) but do we really need them? We get these tricked out, hyped up cell
phones with all the bells and whistles on it but we probably use about 20-30% of the features.
Since you have one you might as well us it to help you build your home-based business and increase your profits. That’s right, don’t waste your money paying the bill (that you’re locked into for 2 years) for technology you’re paying for and not get full use of it. Take advantage of all of that high tech stuff.
What are some of the things you can do? I’m glad you asked.
Plan Something-Use your calendar on your phone as a planning tool. Most phones can synch to Outlook so you might as well synch your PDA with your computer so you can have all of your contacts and appointments on you at all times.
Get Motivated-All of these PDA’s are mp3 players as well so while you’re downloading you music, you should also download those motivational, educational or training CD’s on your phone. Take your training where ever you go so you’re constantly learning and developing your skills. You can also listen to that electronic book you’ve wanted to read but never got around to it.
Take Good Voice Notes-I can’t tell you how many times I think of something great while driving my car and no less then 15 minutes, I totally forget. Get smart and as soon as a thought comes to your mind, record it on your PDA in the voice notes. Since I started doing that, things have worked out well for me. I no longer depend on my memory to keep good notes. I let my phone do it for me.
Send Emails-Just imagine someone emailing you some important word document or an excel spreadsheet that needs to be reviewed. PDA’s today have that capability where you can receive documents as an attachment and open them on your phone. This way you can reply to someone immediately without telling them you’ll respond after you get back to the office.
Keep Everybody Updated-Many of us use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter as business tools so why not continue to update your status or send out a tweet from your phone? Just about every phone, if not all of them, have the applications for the phones. Just imagine informing 5,000 of your closest Facebook friends immediately about a product your company is coming out with? Do you think you’ll get some interest in the product? Of course you would so start updating that status and start tweeting.
These are just a few things you can do with you phone but don’t forget functions like text surfing the web and conference calls. These also are good tools you can use to help your home-based business.
